About

Joanna is a polish cellist based in London. She has made her debut as a soloist performing Goltermann’s Cello Concerto in G-major at the age of 12 and has since appeared in concerts and festivals around the world as a concerto soloist, recitalist, chamber as well as orchestral musician. As a soloist she has performed in many renowned concert halls in Europe, Asia and United States as well as at important festivals. In 2017 she made her debut on BBC Radio 3. With a broad range of repertoire, her musical specialisms encompass works from the standard repertoire alongside lesser known pieces. In her recitals she often includes new works, many of them written especially for her and dedicated to her.

Joanna is a founding member of the award-winning Bukolika Piano Trio. She also collaborates with the guitarist Mario Kurtjak as well as with the Rowan Cello Quartet. In January 2020, she received her PhD. Her doctoral research as well as her CD album focused on music for the cello by Kaija Saariaho as an example of new qualities of sound and expression. Joanna received a scholarship from the Clumber Studio to study with Christoph Richter at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she graduated with Distinction in 2018.

Joanna is a highly demanded teacher, and holds a position as an assistant professor at the Academy of Music Krakow in addition to her ever-expanding class of private cello students across London. She is also involved in the promotion of music by the Venezuelan composer Antonio Estevez, whose music is well known in South America but still undiscovered by many audiences.

Joanna plays on a cello by Pawel Migiel.

It's never boring even when me meet at 8 am! And just after 2 months I could play all my favorites melodies!

She is super patient and has manner of delivery which I have found to be very re-assuring but also challenging when required. I'm not the most confident  learner, she takes this into account and pushes just enough without being overbearing.

Lovely, professional service. Joanna is absolutely wonderful, with a calm manner, supportive teaching style and has a fantastic rapport with my daughter.

Joanna is simply fantastic. She has a natural gift for teaching and can explain what appear to be the most complex things in memorable and easy to digest gems. She is incredibly patient, flexible and makes every lesson fun.

She is just a wonderful teacher, very patient and encouraging! I have only started learning since last summer, and I feel like I'm progressing very quickly!
